Energy, Resources & Sustainability Roundtable with the Hon Keith Pitt MP

The Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea’s Energy, Resources and Sustainability (ERS) Sub-Committee is pleased to host an exclusive roundtable discussion with the Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia, the Hon Keith Pitt MP.

The roundtable event will be hosted in person, with the Minister providing an update on COVID-19’s impact on Australia’s resources sector and discussing Australia’s critical minerals exports to Korea via teleconference.

In attendance will be Minister Pitt, representatives from the Australia-Korea energy and resources sector and AustCham Korea Sponsors.

Speaker Introductions:

Keith Pitt was sworn in as Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia on 6 February 2020.

He was first elected to represent the Hinkler electorate in the Australian Parliament in September 2013.

Keith was born and raised in Bundaberg, after finishing high school he undertook an electrical apprenticeship and went on to complete a Bachelor degree in computer and electrical engineering.

Before entering politics Keith owned a consulting and training business (including a registered training organisation) delivering Vocational Education and Training across the East Coast of the country, but particularly in rural Queensland, prior to that he owned cane farms in Bundaberg.

In February 2016, Keith became the Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister. In July 2016, Keith successfully retained the seat of Hinkler in the Federal Election and was appointed as Assistant Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment.

In March 2018, Keith was appointed as Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack. He resigned from this position in August 2018.

An active member of the Hinkler community, Mr Pitt was heavily involved in local sports such as touch football and surf lifesaving, interests he maintains today. Through his previous business
interests he supported a wide variety of local community groups and events.

Mr Pitt is married with three children.


The Chamber’s Energy Resources & Sustainability (ERS) sub-committee focuses serves as the primary body within AustCham Korea relating to the energy, resources and sustainability sectors. The Committee’s mission is to obtain and exchange information, discuss relevant issues, share resources, expand networks and provide a platform to enhance bilateral relations between Australia and Korea.Key initiatives include acting as an interface to the government, regulators and industry, as well as advising and educating AustCham Korea members on issues relating to the industry.
