International Women’s Day Event

Choose to Challenge: Exploring Women’s Leadership in Australia and Korea

In partnership with the Australian Embassy in Korea and Asialink Business, AustCham Korea invites you to our upcoming International Women’s Day webinar ‘Choose to Challenge: Exploring Women’s Leadership in Australia and Korea’.

Bringing together high-profile experts with extensive public and private sector experience across Asia, the panel will facilitate a compelling data-driven conversation exploring the challenges women have faced due to impacts of COVID-19. Panellists will address some of the barriers encountered by women across the region, and explore policies and initiatives that have facilitated and supported the advancement of highly qualified women in business. They will also share their thoughts on ways to champion for a gender-inclusive world moving forward, in both Australia and Korea.

Hosted at 12 pm KST (2 pm AEDT) on International Women’s Day, March 8th, the webinar provides a platform for senior business leaders, policymakers and young professionals to connect, exchange insights and share ideas on ways to navigate the complexity of doing business in the Asia region.

Our expert panellists are:

  • H.E. Catherine Raper, Australian Ambassador to Korea
  • Penny Burtt, Group CEO, Asialink
  • Sandra Park, Country Manager & Chief Representative – Korea, Woodside Energy
  • Helen Oh, Trade and Investment Commissioner, Austrade Seoul

This event will be moderated by Jo Billing, Director & Co-CEO at JOST & Co, and Board Member at AustCham Korea, and will build upon an article initially published on the Asialink Insights platform titled “Women in Leadership – Business in Asia is gaining Momentum”.

Our expert panellists will share insights on:

  • How the ‘choosing to challenge’ mantra plays out in Australia and Korea
  • The impact of COVID-19 on women and what the data says regarding remote work downsides, pressures of unpaid duties in the household, and voluntary and involuntary job loss
  • The type of initiatives that have shifted the needle in transforming women in leadership across the region
  • Why it is necessary for Government, private sector and community to play a critical role in supporting gender diversity and equality in this ever-changing environment

This will be based on the panellists own journeys of working in leadership roles across the region.

Join us in celebrating International Women’s Day by registering your details below and submitting a question to our panel and email events@austchamkorea.org if you would like more information about this initiative.
