Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise Visit Seoul

On Tuesday, June 20, the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AustCham Korea) hosted an intimate networking function with the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) for their delegation to Seoul.

Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) is an independent, member-driven economic development organisation actively linking the business community to opportunities across regional Southern Queensland, Australia and abroad. TBSE are committed to ensuring that their local business community will innovate, adapt and prosper and they take pride in encouraging major investment and promoting the vital need for new and upgraded infrastructure in our region. To ensure the region continues to diversify and grow sustainably TSBE also invests in activities that attract new businesses and create growth in the region; grow the local communities and skilled workforce; and generate increased investment.

TSBE’s international trade department, Southern Queensland (SQ) Export Hub was established to work with businesses across the food, agribusiness, oil, gas & energy sectors to build their capacity and capability to export and compete globally. The hub aims to grow the local export culture via upskilling SME’s which stimulates economic growth through local job creation.

An initiative to foster people to people connections between regional Southern Queensland and Korea recently allowed TSBE’s SQ Export Hub to take a delegation of agtech, food and beverage companies to Korea to progress trade. Assisted by the Australia Korea Foundation, the SQ Export Hub curated a program that walked the supply chain and allowed delegates Harvest Ant, FutureFeed, Wearing Memories Wine Merchants, Gooralie Free Range Pork, Inglewood Organic and Down Under Farming to understand where opportunities are for their products in the Korean market.

With a diverse food & agriculture sector and the consumers reliance upon imports, this cohort of regional Southern Queensland businesses are looking forward to progressing new friendships made with Korean stakeholders as they undertake their export journey, and the Chamber looks forward to assisting them.
