2023 Seoul Rugby Charity Dinner

On Friday, June 16, the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AustCham Korea) supported the 2023 Seoul Rugby Charity Dinner, with over 200 people in attendance from the Seoul Rugby community.

The evening drew a large crowd to see influential players, David Auradou, 5-time French Top 14 league champion, capped 41 times for France, 6 Nations Grandslam winner, RWC 1999 and 2003, who is currently coaching in France, and Stephen Donald, All Black, kicked the winning points in the 2011 RWC final, media personality, MD of a beverage company and coach. Thanks to their support, the night was a huge success, and while numbers have yet to be confirmed, the current estimate for donations is over KRW 10,000,000

The event was proudly sponsored by the French Embassy, French Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), the Kiwi Chamber, Air New Zealand, Milbank, L’Oreal, OK Financial Group, Land Rover Defender, Pernod Ricard, Daesang Wellife, Korean Rugby Union, Seoul Wine & Spirits, Peroni and Veolia, with additional support from the Australian, British, South African and Irish Chambers.

Additionally, the French Embassy hosted a cocktail reception the evening before the charity dinner, for 120 attendees. The guest speakers also conducted coaching clinics and Q&A sessions at the French International School, Yonsei University, The Korean Military Academy, and Han River Park Rugby Stadium. During the course of these visits, they engaged with over 200 local players ranging from 6-year-olds to Korean national team representatives.

Nick Goodman, Seoul Survivors RFC Coach and Rugby Charity Dinner Organising Committee Member, said, “It was great to see the culmination of a lot of work and generous support from a diverse cross-section of the Seoul community come together to provide a memorable experience for so many people. David and Stephen were both brilliant ambassadors for the sport of rugby. With their engaging personalities and passion for the sport leaving a positive impression on everyone they met.”

“A huge thanks to all who supported the event by sponsoring, volunteering, attending and donating. The money raised will be put to great use by Anna House and 성남시단기청소년쉼터 여자.”
