AustCham Korea Hosts Business Breakfast With the Governor of South Australia

On Thursday, June 1, the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AustCham Korea) and the South Australia Trade and Investment Office co-hosted a Business Breakfast Discussion with the Governor of South Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC.

The exclusive breakfast discussion focused particularly on the energy sector and aimed to provide a platform for industry related discussion and networking between government representatives and business leaders in the Republic of Korea.

Her Excellency is the 36th Governor of South Australia, having been appointed in 2021, and is an affluent and accomplished South Australian. Between 2011 and 2015, Adamson held the post of Australian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, the first woman in that position. During her time there, the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement was negotiated. In 2015, Her Excellency was appointed a foreign policy adviser to Prime Minister Turnbull and in 2016 she was appointed Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. There, the Governor led the department through a period of cultural change, encouraging more women into senior ranks.

In June 2021, Her Excellency was made a Companion of the Order of Australia for “eminent service to public administration through the advancement of Australia’s diplomatic, trade and cultural interests, particularly with the People’s Republic of China and the Indo-Pacific region”.

The Chamber was delighted to host such an engaging and influential Australian diplomatic figure in Seoul, and thanks the Government of South Australia for their continued support of the Chamber.
