Qantas, Jetstar & Destination NSW Sydney to Seoul Inaugural Flights Launch Celebration

On Monday, December 11, the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AustCham Korea)’s Project Manager Grace Casley had the honour of MCing Qantas, Jetstar & Destination NSW Sydney to Seoul Inaugural Flights Launch Celebration.

The event was held in the Orchid Room at the Westin Joseon Seoul to commemorate Qantas and Jetstar’s launch of regular direct flights between Seoul and Sydney. Since November 2 of this year, Jetstar has been flying three times a week between Sydney and Seoul with the Boeing 787. Since this Saturday just passed, Qantas is also flying four Sydney to Seoul flights a week with the Airbus A330.

In attendance for the milestone event were Her Excellency Catherine Raper, Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, John Simeone, Asia Senior Vice President of International Sales at Qantas, Evan Kruse, Head of Sales at Jetstar, Simon Smith, General Manager of SEA, Korean and Taiwan at Qantas, Orin Kwon, Korea Representative for Qantas Group, Jenny Kim, Business Development Manager for Destination New South Wales, the talented Qantas Group employees, and other key stakeholders in the Korea-Australia travel industry. Joining from AustCham Korea were Vice Chair, Jo Billing from JOST & Co, Treasurer, Kelly Lee from IFM Investors, and Intern, Harna Fary from Griffith University.

Mr Simeone commented, “We know Australia, and in particular New South Wales, has become a must-see destination for South Koreans in recent years, and demand for travel has increased significantly since international borders reopened. [Qantas Group is] proud to have launched just in time for South Koreans to experience an Australian summer. From Sydney, customers can also connect to Qantas’ extensive domestic and trans-Tasman network of more than 60 destinations.”

The Chamber looks forward to seeing how business connections between Australia and the Republic of Korea flourish with more pathways now open.
