AustCham Korea Makes a Comeback With Second Taste of Australia

On Friday, October 7, 2022, the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AustCham Korea) hosted their largest major networking event of 2022, Taste of Australia 2.0.

Supported by Premium Sponsors Australian Made, Investment NSW and Woolworths, and Event Sponsors the Australian Embassy in the Republic of Korea, South Australian Government, Trade and Investment Queensland, Pepper Savings Bank and Millennium Hilton Seoul, the event featured a brand-new menu showcasing Australian Darling Downs wagyu beef, Huon Tasmanian salmon and Coles lamb, paired carefully with a vast selection of premium wines, beers and Australian-inspired cocktails.

Senior government representatives, business leaders and the extended community mingled in the Grand Ballroom of the Millennium Hilton Seoul, enjoying fresh Aussie produce with succulent wines from all over the country. Some hot spots on the night were the Australian Made photo booth, the Southside Parlor Aussie-themed cocktail bar and the opportunity to meet with Koko the Koala from the Australian Embassy.

Ross Gregory, Chairman of AustCham Korea, commented, “As many people here can relate, due to the pandemic, it has been a long three years. To the credit of the Australia-Korea business community, many companies have shown persistence, resilience and strength. We have also seen the community become closer, with the Australian Embassy, Austrade, State government offices and the Chamber working hand-in-glove with the common goal of further strengthening our commitment to the bilateral relationship with a Team Australia approach. Of course, this would not be possible without the support of our members and sponsors.”

AustCham Korea would like to extend their special thanks to the Australian Ambassador, H.E. Catherine Raper, for providing complimentary remarks and a toast for Taste of Australia and the Korea-Australia relationship.

A special thanks must also be extended to ANZA and all other volunteers on the night. With the help of everyone involved, AustCham Korea is delighted to announce the charity raffle raised an unprecedented amount of 12,500,000 KRW. These proceeds will go to AustCham Korea’s Gold Sponsor Cochlear’s recommended charities: Salvation Army’s ‘Wow! Hearing Gift Campaign’ and Caritas Cheongju’s ‘Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center for the Deaf’.

Thank you to all who supported, attended and enjoyed the evening. From everyone at the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea, we look forward to hosting similar future events in 2023.
