AustCham Korea Visits Team Australia at Seoul Food and Hotel 2022

On Thursday, June 9, 2022, the AustCham Korea Secretariat visited Austrade Seoul and Investment NSW, who hosted a nation-branded Australian Pavilion and adjacent Investment NSW Pavilion at this year’s Seoul Food and Hotel held at KINTEX.

At the Australian Pavilion, the team was instantly greeted with a familiar face and even more familiar smell: the smell of some Aussie lamb being grilled on the BBQ by AustCham Member MIA TRADING’s CEO, Mia Hong. Other samples of Aussie produce available for tasting were provided by That’s Amore, Coles, Morelife, Sticky Balsamic, Made Group, Woolworths, Essential Flavour, Bickfords, Purearth, Goulburn Valley Creamery and GrainCorp.

With a keen interest shown from Korean buyers, Austrade Seoul’s Helen Oh, Trade and Investment Commissioner & Counsellor (Commercial), had the following to say about why Australia has become an even more attractive partner in recent years, “In these [dynamic] market conditions, the recurring phrase from Austrade Seoul has been ‘Australia is an ideal partner to strengthen Korea’s food security supply chain.’ Australia offers high quality commodities and value-added products via reliable air and sea freight. This proved to be a great place to start commercial discussions in preparation for and during Seoul Food and Hotel 2022.”

Seeing the activity at the Australian Pavilion, along with the positive responses from Korean buyers first-hand, AustCham Korea looks forward to seeing some familiar brands on Korean shelves soon.
