AustCham Korea Announces Election of New Chair

AustCham Korea is pleased to announce Mr Ross Gregory has been elected Chairperson at the most recent Board of Directors Meeting.

During the meeting, which was hosted at the Millennium Hilton Seoul, Mr Gregory was unanimously elected as the Chair, in addition to Ms Jo Billing and Mr Felix Busch as Vice Chairs, and Ms Kelly Ki Jeong Lee , CFA as Treasurer.

Mr Gregory welcomed the appointment, expressing his commitment to fostering a stronger and more diverse business community, in addition to extending his gratitude to both outgoing Chairs, Ms Jo Billing (2022) and Mr Chris Raciti (2018-2022) for their service and support of the Chamber.

“It is an honour to be elected as the Chair of the Chamber, chosen to represent our members within the Australian and Korean business community. Over the last several years, the Chamber has seen tremendous growth, which is a true testament to a strong Board and Executive Committee.

Although COVID-19 has played a significant toll on business, we continue to witness a trend of growth and diversity of trade and investment between Australia and Korea. I look forward to working with our members in leveraging these opportunities in what will be an exciting year ahead,” said Mr Gregory.

Being a commercial lawyer, Mr Gregory has broad experience in banking and corporate transactions, whilst also being a former Executive Director at Macquarie Group and CEO of Macquarie Securities Korea. He has also been involved in several consumer-facing small businesses in Korea and advocates the importance of the SME sector.

Mr Gregory is now focusing on providing specialist advisory services to participants in critical and battery minerals and rare earths supply chains, from upstream mining to downstream processing, with a focus on developing new distinct supply chains between Korean and Australian firms.

Mr Gregory is fluent in Korean, with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne and an MBA from Melbourne Business School, along with a Diploma in Korean Language Studies from Yonsei University.

The Chamber’s Executive Director, Mr Rowan Petz welcomed Mr Gregory upon his election and stated that he is looking forward to working alongside the Executive Committee in 2022 and beyond.
