AustCham Korea Signs Historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KOTRA and 14 Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Korea

On Thursday, December 9, 2021, the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AustCham Korea) joined 14 foreign chambers of commerce in Korea in signing a historic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

The MoU aims to strengthen collaboration between KOTRA and foreign chambers to provide monthly managerial courses titled ‘Business+ Forum’ to mid and senior level expats working at foreign companies and Embassies in Korea.

AustCham’s Executive Director, Mr Rowan Petz, emphasised the importance of this agreement stating that “bringing together 15 foreign chambers of commerce in Korea, the MoU offers a unique opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the expat and local business communities. We hope this extends the Chamber’s capability in providing key information for participants on local trends and opportunities within the market.”

“AustCham Korea is pleased to enter into this cooperation and we look forward to working together with KOTRA and other foreign chambers to deliver an informative and engaging event program in 2022”, he added.

Director Han-jin Park of KOTRA Academy, who organised this course said, “after consultation with foreign chambers in Korea last August, I felt that foreign expats in Korea desired to know more about Korea’s recent economic and industrial trends.”

“KOTRA looks forward to strengthening networks with foreign chambers and organisations in Korea, attracting further foreign direct investment into Korea and expanding amicable relationships to Korea”, he added.

Business+ Forum is expected to launch in March 2022.

Memorandum of Understanding is between the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and 15 foreign chambers of commerce: AustCham, AmCham, BCCK, CanCham, ECCK, FinCham, FKCCI, KGCCI, ICCK, AICCK, ITCCK, KiwiCham, SingCham, ESCCK, and the SCCK.
