Gapyeong Scholarship Thank You Letters.

Given the importance of this year’s 70th anniversary of the Battle of Gapyeong, AustCham Korea was especially glad to continue our support of the Gapyeong Scholarship Program by donating 8 educational scholarships to Gapyeong Middle and High School students.

Building upon the legacy of veterans from Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and Canada who fought alongside South Korea during the Korean War, the Gapyeong Scholarships aim to support the education of middle school and high school students from the Gapyeong community.

The Chamber has been supporting the program for many years, donating the scholarships on behalf of members. Additionally, the Chamber would like thank its members, Rio Tinto Korea, Macquarie Group, Pepper Savings Bank and Kenny Lee of Rio Tinto Korea, for making additional donations.

Although veterans could not fly to Korea to attend this year’s ceremony, they were still able to join the service virtually and share some of their stories. Find out more about the ceremony here.

Additionally, while only a few student representatives could attend the Scholarship Awards ceremony, the scholarship recipients shared their thanks and appreciation of the program and the veteran legacy in Gapyeong through writing warm thank you letters, which you can read below:
