AustCham Korea Hosts ERS Roundtable with the Hon. Minister Keith Pitt MP.

[AustCham] On Thursday, June 2, 2020, AustCham Korea’s Energy, Resources and Sustainability (ERS) Sub-Committee had the pleasure of hosting an exclusive roundtable discussion with the Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia, the Hon Keith Pitt MP.

The event was attended by the Australian Ambassador to Korea, the Hon. Ambassador James Choi with Minister Pitt joining via teleconference to discuss opportunities within Australia’s booming critical minerals resources sector, stressing Korea’s importance. Minister Pitt discussed the role of technology in driving up demand for critical minerals and it’s potential for strengthening new and existing partnerships between Australian and Korean industry leaders.

Senior representatives from AustCham Korea, Australian government, Australian Strategic Materials, Arafura Resources, Herbert Smith Freehills, Korea Resource Corporation (KORES), LG International, Macquarie Group, POSCO, POSCO-Daewoo International and Woodside Energy, participated in last week’s exclusive roundtable discussion.

The Chamber would like to thank Minister Pitt and all roundtable participants for joining the robust discussion on the challenges and opportunities within Australia’s critical minerals sector.

It was terrific to see AustCham sponsors and key industry stakeholders brought together through a combination of online and offline participation, and we look forward to hosting similar events in the future.

We also want to extend special thanks to the Australian Embassy and Austrade for working with us on this project, along with Woodside Energy, who provided valuable industry insights and kindly sponsored the event.
