
AustCham Korea recently had the pleasure to attend “Try Everything 2025” at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), a leading global startup and innovation conference that brought together entrepreneurs, investors, corporates, and government representatives. The Australia session on Friday, 12 September spotlighted opportunities in the Australian market and avenues for deeper Korea–Australia startup collaboration.
The program opened with remarks from Vivien Lim, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner at Austrade Seoul, who outlined the strength of the Australian technology and innovation ecosystem, along with practical advice for Korean startups seeking to expand into the market. This was followed by Yoojin Kim, Director from NSW Trade & Investment Director for Korea, who presented the advantages of doing business in NSW, with a focus on the state’s thriving tech ecosystem.
On the investment side, Ben Lindsay, Investment Principal at Investible, discussed “Scaling Together: How Australia and South Korea Can Power the Next Generation of Startups,” highlighting opportunities in critical technologies and bilateral growth, while startups Goran Bozic of DeCarice and Alex Short of PerformID showcased their cleantech and fintech solutions, with DeCarice focusing on decarbonising diesel through hydrogen retrofit technology and PerformID explaining why Korea was chosen as their launchpad for a card-linked consumer rewards platform.
By attending Try Everything, AustCham Korea continues to support stronger collaboration between Australian and Korean entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers. The session demonstrated the depth of innovation in the Australian startup ecosystem and the growing opportunities for Korea–Australia partnerships in areas such as cleantech, fintech, and critical technologies.
