AustCham Korea Celebrates 65 Years of Cathay Pacific Flights to Korea.
AustCham Korea was honoured to attend a gala dinner at the Shilla Hotel’s Yeongbingwan to mark 65 years since Cathay Pacific began flights to and from Korea. Representing the Chamber was Senior Advisor Jacco Zwetsloot, who joined approximately 110 specially invited guests from Korea’s aviation sector, Cathay’s Diamond loyalty tier, and media influencers for an evening of celebration, style, and aviation heritage.
The night began with lively networking and a hands-on virtual reality demo of Cathay’s new Aria business class suite, complete with headset and joystick controls. Guests enjoyed champagne, canapés, and Cathay Pacific’s signature inflight mocktail, the Cathay Delight, while taking in the elegant backdrop of the historic Yeongbingwan venue.
The dinner program featured a fashion show of Cathay cabin crew uniforms through the decades—from military-inspired classics to today’s sleek modern designs. Cathay’s Northeast Asia General Manager Nelson Chin and Korea Country Manager Donald Morris spoke passionately about the airline’s 65-year journey and achievements.
Guests were treated to a sumptuous five-course meal, including lobster and Hanwoo Korean beef, and a live performance by popera crossover vocal group Pasta. The evening concluded with a lucky draw featuring luxury prizes, including international hotel stays and Cathay Pacific flight tickets—both in their newly awarded Skytrax Best Economy Class and acclaimed business class.
AustCham Korea celebrates the achievements of Silver-tier member Cathay Pacific, and looks forward to it soaring to new heights in the coming years.
