Strengthening Investor Confidence: AustCham Korea Meets with New Foreign Investment Ombudsman.
On Thursday 26 June, AustCham Korea’s Senior Advisor Jacco Zwetsloot attended a luncheon with Korea’s newly appointed Foreign Investment Ombudsman, Mr Kim Doo-sik, hosted at the beautiful Samcheonggak venue in northern Seoul.
Joined by representatives from the Canadian, French, Japanese, and Chinese chambers, the discussion provided an early opportunity to engage with Ombudsman Kim, who brings decades of legal experience to the role. He remarked that being Ombudsman is “like being a lawyer for foreign clients — just without getting paid by them,” underscoring his commitment to practical grievance resolution.
The Office of the Ombudsman presented its process for resolving investment challenges through case investigation, expert dialogue, and coordinated policy recommendations.
AustCham Korea welcomes Mr Kim to his new role and appreciates the opportunity to contribute to discussions that enhance Korea’s investment climate for all.
