On February 16, AustCham Korea hosted an exclusive Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) tour for members from its Platinum, Gold, and Silver tiers, offering a rare opportunity to explore one of South Korea’s most historically significant sites. From Syngman Rhee to Moon Jae-in, every South Korean president resided and governed from the Blue House between 1948 and 2022.

The tour was led by Jacco Zwetsloot, an experienced storytelling walking tour guide, who took participants on a journey through the site’s centuries-long history—from its origins in the Joseon Dynasty to its transformation under Japanese colonial rule, the American military government, and the modern Republic of Korea. The tour concluded with insights into the decision by the current administration to open the Blue House to the public rather than retain it as the presidential office.

Representatives from six Chamber members, some accompanied by family, attended the tour. For many, it was their first time visiting the Blue House, and they all expressed their appreciation for the chance to see and learn something new.
