AustCham Korea Secretariat Attends ROK-Australia Future Cooperation Forum
On Wednesday, November 20, the AustCham Korea representatives participated in the ROK-Australia Future Cooperation Forum held at the Trade Tower Conference Hall in Seoul. Organised by the Australian Embassy Seoul and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), the event commemorated the 10th anniversary of the Korea-Australia Free Trade Agreement (KAFTA) and highlighted areas for future collaboration between the two nations.
In-ho Lee, Vice President of KITA, and H.E. Jeff Robinson, Australian Ambassador to Korea, has delivered opening remarks.
The forum showcased the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership forged between Australia and Korea, which focuses on strengthening supply chains and advancing high-tech industries. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to achieving carbon-neutral collaboration through innovations in green technology and green energy.
Key discussions included:
- Outcomes of the KAFTA 10th Anniversary by the Institute for International Trade, KITA.
- Future Cooperation in technology, climate, green initiatives, and the food sector, presented by Dane Richmond of Austrade.
- Critical Minerals Cooperation led by Cheol-kyu Lee of POSCO Holdings.
- Food Sector Cooperation via an online presentation by Yoo-jin Cha from CJ CheilJedang.
KITA also introduced its strategic outlook for 2025 under the framework of “STORM,” representing Security & Survival, Tariff, Over-capacity & Over-supply, Resources, and Manufacturing. This vision underscores the evolving global challenges and opportunities both nations face as they deepen their economic and strategic ties.
The AustCham Korea team, attending as guests, gained valuable insights into the partnership between South Korea and Australia, particularly in critical sectors such as trade, sustainability, and green energy. The event reaffirmed the robust relationship between the two nations and their shared goals for a sustainable future.
