H2MEET 2024 Conference Highlights Australia’s Role in Global Energy Transition
The AustCham Korea Secretariat recently attended the H2MEET 2024 Conference at KINTEX in Ilsan, a major global event showcasing the latest developments in the hydrogen industry. Australia’s critical role in the clean
energy transition was a standout feature throughout the conference, with the country being highlighted for its innovative hydrogen projects and renewable energy leadership.
Australia took the spotlight as the featured country during the event, and its representation at the Team Australia Pavilion was impressive, with 11 companies leading the charge in hydrogen technology and renewable energy solutions. These businesses were complemented by several other Australian firms participating in various parts of the event, demonstrating the country’s growing influence in the hydrogen sector.
A key focus for AustCham members was the Austrade hosted Australia Country Day Program, which showcased groundbreaking hydrogen initiatives from key Australian states, including New South Wales, Western Australia, Queensland, and South Australia. These presentations emphasized Australia’s strategic efforts to become a global leader in hydrogen production, particularly its aim to integrate cutting-edge hydrogen solutions into both domestic and international markets.
The Future Made in Australia initiative was also discussed in-depth, a significant commitment by the Australian government to invest $22.7 billion in renewable energy over the next decade. This initiative underlines Australia’s ambitious plan to become a renewable energy superpower and positions the country as a crucial player in global efforts to achieve net-zero emissions. Collaboration with key markets like South Korea was highlighted as essential to driving forward economic and industrial innovation in the hydrogen space.
Following the Country Day presentations, the South Australian Government hosted a Networking Reception for all attendees. This event provided a valuable platform for Australian innovators to engage with Korean and international business leaders, fostering opportunities for future partnerships and investments.
AustCham Korea would like to extend its gratitude to key members to Approtium, Fortescue Zero, Elecseed, New Electric Partners, Korea Zinc, Pilot Energy, Austrade, Investment NSW, TIQ, Western Australia Trade Office, Government of South Australia (Korea Trade) and others for their active participation and support. Their involvement continues to position Australia as a driving force in the global hydrogen and renewable energy sectors.
