On 3rd July, AustCham Korea members and special guests warmly welcomed the Australia-Korea Business Council (AKBC) delegation at a co-hosted roundtable event held at the Grand Hyatt Seoul. Emceed by AustCham Korea Chairman, Mr Ross Gregory, and AKBC Chairman, the Hon. Martin Ferguson AM, the event attracted 28 senior business leaders and Australian government representatives actively engaged in the Australia-Korea business corridor.

The roundtable served as an excellent platform for high-level networking and facilitated an open dialogue on the current state of the bilateral relationship between Australia and Korea. Leveraging the wealth of expertise present, the discussion delved into opportunities for further cross-border collaboration in critical sectors such as minerals, renewable energy, hydrogen, and carbon capture and storage (CCS). Additionally, attendees explored continued growth within the food and beverage (F&B), education, and defence sectors while underscoring the importance of people-to-people linkages.

These discussions underscored the importance of leveraging each country’s strengths to foster innovation and drive sustainable growth. There was a strong emphasis on the mutual benefits of such collaborations, particularly in addressing global challenges like climate change and energy security.

The event also highlighted the role of government and industry partnerships in advancing these objectives. Representatives from both sides expressed their commitment to continuing dialogue and working together to create a favourable environment for business and investment.

AustCham Korea would like to thank the Australia-Korea Business Council and their delegation for their participation and valuable contributions.

The Chamber looks forward to further strengthening these ties at the AKBC-KABC 45th Joint Meeting, which will be held in Perth later this year. This upcoming meeting promises to be another significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between Australia and Korea, providing further opportunities to build on the foundations laid at the Seoul roundtable.
