POSCO Group donates 10 billion KRW to the Community Chest of Korea

On December 14, POSCO (CEO Jeong-Woo Choi) contributed 10 billion KRW to share with those who desperately need the support towards the end of the year, considering that this year was especially challenging due to the prolonged COVID-19 issue and social distancing.

The donation will be delivered to the Community Chest of Korea and will be used not only to support the vulnerable groups of society like children, adolescents, the disabled, and multicultural families but also to address the issues of the local community that reflect low-carbon and eco-friendly trends, such as carbon neutrality and marine environment protection projects.

A POSCO official said, “This year has been especially rough for those in need because of the aftermath of COVID-19, including intensified social distancing policies. We hope that POSCO’s donation will share the warmth of love and hope with the local community.”

Also, utilizing the funds of POSCO 1% Foundation, which is run by donations — 1% of the monthly pay — from POSCO employees, POSCO is carrying out “1% My Little Charity”.

Through “1% My Little Charity,” each of the 33,000 POSCO Group employees donates 30,000 KRW to 150 social welfare facilities online. The program, initiated on December 8, together with the Korean web portal NAVER’s Happybean, will be continued until the 24th.
