Gapyeong Scholarship Donation and Thank You Letters.
Given the importance of this year’s 70th anniversary of the Korean War, AustCham Korea was especially glad to continue our support of the Gapyeong Scholarship Program by donating 7 educational scholarships.
Building upon the legacy of veterans from Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and Canada who fought alongside South Korea during the Korean War, the Gapyeong Scholarships aim to support the education of middle school and high school students from the Gapyeong community.
The Chamber has been supporting the program for many years and would also like to thank our members, Macquarie Group, Pepper Savings Bank and John Walker, for making additional donations.
Usually marked with ceremony at the Gapyeong Commonwealth Memorial commemorating the Battle of Gapyeong every April 23rd, this year the event was postponed due to COVID-19.
Nevertheless, the scholarship recipients shared their thanks and appreciation of the program and the veteran legacy in Gapyeong through writing warm thank you letters, which you can read below:
