Breakfast Reception with Mr David Grabau,
Austrade’s Senior Investment Specialist, Resources Energy
and Research Geoscientist from Geoscience Australia.

[17 April 2019]

Friday the 12th of April, AustCham’s Energy & Resources Sub-Committee welcomed Austrade’s Senior Investment Specialist for Resources Energy, Mr David Grabau to speak at a Breakfast Reception at the Four Seasons in Seoul.

Attended by roughly 30 guests from the public and private sectors, Mr Grabau provided an update on Australia’s lithium value chain and critical minerals sector while also highlighting many of the opportunities for further investment and collaboration between Australia and Korea.

Australia has significant competitive advantages in critical minerals and is the world’s second largest producer of rare-earth elements and has the world’s sixth largest resource of rare-earth elements. Australia also possesses some of the largest resources of cobalt, lithium, manganese, tantalum, tungsten and zirconium.

With demand for these rare-earth elements and other critical minerals expected to grow with the increasing use of high-tech products, Australia is well-placed to meet its international partners’ critical minerals supply needs, such as Korea, as the production of batteries will increase dramatically over the next decade and beyond

AustCham would like to thank Mr David Grabau and Austrade along with everyone who attended the event for the continued support towards the Energy & Resources Sub-Committee.
