Honouring those brave Australians who fought alongside South Koreans during the Korean war, AustCham marked the 67th anniversary of the Battle of Gapyeong by attending the Commonwealth Memorial and ANZAC Memorial ceremonies in Gapyeong on the 28th of May.
With many Australian war veterans and their families in attendance, AustCham honoured their legacy by donating 10 educational scholarships to the value of KRW 3.25 million. Joined by the Australian Ambassador, H.E James Choi, Korean war veterans and sponsors, AustCham’s Chair, Chris Raciti participated in a special ceremony, handing over scholarships to local Gapyeiong schools students.
Following the ceremony, representatives from AustCham’s Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) Committee attended a lunch at the ROK Army 66th Division Headquarters in Gapyeong.
Each scholarship is presented on behalf of our Gold Sponsors.

AustCham would also like to acknowledge our following members and sponsors for their additional support of the scholarship program; John Walker and the Macquarie Group of Companies, Pepper Savings Bank, Grand Hyatt, Bills Korea, Four Seasons Hotel, Somerset Palace Seoul and the Australian New Zealand Association (Korea).
