Breakfast Reception with Mr David Grabau,
Australian Trade and Investment Commission’s (Austrade) Senior Investment Specialist, Resources Energy, and Research Geoscientist from Geoscience Australia.

Mr Grabau will be visiting Seoul to promote opportunities for Korean investment and collaboration into i) the lithium value chain and ii) critical minerals (rare earths).

David will expand on Austrade’s Critical Mineral’s strategy and where he sees greater scope for investment and supply between Australia and Korea.

Australia has significant competitive advantages in critical minerals and is the world’s second largest producer of rare-earth elements and has the world’s sixth largest resource of rare-earth elements. Australia also possesses some of the largest resources of cobalt, lithium, manganese, tantalum, tungsten and zirconium.

With demand for these rare-earth elements and other critical minerals expected to grow with the increasing use of high-tech products, Australia is well-placed to meet our international partners’ critical minerals supply needs, such as Korea, as the production of batteries will increase dramatically over the next decade and beyond.
