Audi Volkswagen Korea has published its CSR report entitled, “2020 TOMOROAD, A Journey to TOMORROW,” which contains core activities and achievements of its TOMOROAD initiative.

“2020 TOMOROAD, A Journey to TOMORROW” was designed to share AVK’s momentum on fulfilling the social responsibility of leading changes in future mobility and sustainable growth of Korea and communicating it to a broader public including its stakeholders.

The report contains the purpose, core activities, and achievements of the TOMOROAD initiative that the company has been pushing since 2018. “TOMOROAD” is a combination of “Tomorrow,” meaning the future, and “Road,” meaning the road to the future of the automotive industry and Industry 4.0. Under the TOMOROAD initiative, Audi Volkswagen Korea carries out various activities to establish educational, environmental, and cultural infrastructure in Korea.

René Koneberg, Group Managing Director of Audi Volkswagen Korea, said, “By pursuing the TOMOROAD initiative, Audi Volkswagen Korea stands together with the United Nations in regards to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the area of quality education, sustainable cities and communities, and climate measures. As a global citizen, Audi Volkswagen Korea will continue to carry out the TOMOROAD initiative to restore customer trust and create values ​​for a better future.”

[Education Program] Provides opportunities for software coding education and career search

  • TOMOROAD School offered to the middle schools implementing free semester/year program.
  • In addition to lectures, the program utilizes the LEGO Mindstorm EV3, App Inventor, and others for software coding and also offers the students to explore future careers.
  • The program confirmed its effect in fostering 4Cs (critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity), which are core capabilities required for future talents.
  • In addition to TOMOROAD Online School offered in the wake of COVID-19, the TOMOROAD School is offered in various formats including, TOMOROAD Mini School, TOMOROAD Weekend School, TOMOROAD Summer School, etc. and will be expanded to include schools nationwide.

[Cultural Program] Providing various experimental activities and exhibition spaces

  • Future Mobility Challenge, an idea contest targeting undergraduate and graduate students
  • The Next Chapter, an exhibition aimed to enhance understanding of changes that will be brought by future mobility and how Audi Volkswagen Korea is envisioning such future.

[Environmental Program] Upgrading the school walkway for students

  • In cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the <Green School Walkway > project was carried out to upgrade the school walkways to enhance safety and reduce fine dust for the students.
  • A total of 1 billion won for 3 years from 2019 to 2021 will be invested. 1 school is selected every year.

[Community Program] Program offered for underprivileged and local community

  • Green Gift Box consisted of companion trees and hand sanitizer provided to underprivileged children living in group shelters to relieve corona depression and prevent infection.
  • Be My Secret Santa, a 1:1 matching fund program between Audi Volkswagen Korea and its employees to support children in need of social care in Seoul and Gyeonggi.
