AustCham Kapyong Scholarships: A Chance to Remember the Fallen and Support a Peaceful and Educated Future
For many years AustCham has provided scholarships to students living in and around the Kapyong Valley.
In this way, AustCham honours the bravery and sacrifice of those Australian soldiers who fought and died during the Battle of Kapyong (22-25 April, 1951) and Australia’s long-standing commitment to peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.
On April 24, 2013, Jieseon Kim, AustCham’s Executive Director, and several AustCham members including Rod Rothwell, Peter Vaughan, Morrison Lee and Julie Hwang, attended a commemoration ceremony at Kapyong.
At the ceremony, AustCham donated two middle school and two high school scholarships to Kapyong students. AustCham members also visited Kapyong High School recently to talk to senior students about Australia.
AustCham contributes to the Korean community through activities co-ordinated by the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee. Members are strongly invited to contribute and if you would like to participate in the CSR Committee or in any of its activities, please contact Jiseon Kim (Executive Director) on email@example.com for further information.
